2012 in review and looking forward to an excellent 2013

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

19,000 people fit into the new Barclays Center to see Jay-Z perform. This blog was viewed about 69,000 times in 2012. If it were a concert at the Barclays Center, it would take about 4 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

Click here to see the complete report.

My point of view: thanks you dear readers, subscribers and all those who made this blog possible. Happy new year

Yes, digital design is a wonderful tool. But unless it is supported with strong management processes, there can be unintended — and negative — consequences.

The Not-So-Standard Rules of Engagement with Digital Consumers by Ogilvy & Mather

<p>Let’s face it, what we think we know about digital consumer behavior tomorrow is already yesterday’s news today. Today’s digital <a class=consumers are always evolving and living by a set of rules that they make. There is no longer a single framework to attract consumers. Instead, we need to develop a not-so-standard approach to engage our audiences. The Not-So-Standard Rules of Engagement is a series of guidelines that gives brands the leading edge in digital engagement while co-evolving with consumers as the next round of app updates enters their queue.

Watch this trailer: Dana LixenbergThe Last Days of Shishmaref

The Last Days of Shishmaref
Shishmaref is disappearing. The village on an island off the coast of Alaska is slowly but surely being swallowed up by the sea. Global warming is causing the island’s protective permafrost layer to melt; the Chukchi Sea is freezing later in the season, leaving ravaging waves free to batter the island. It is estimated that the community of 600 Inupiaq Eskimos will have to leave their native land before 2020. Photographer Dana Lixenberg stayed in Shishmaref for several weeks during the winter and summer of 2007. She explored the intricate relationship between the inhabitants and the rough, bleak and beautiful landscape that surrounds them.
